Mac Bluetooth Performance Improvement

Summary:

 Some customers have experienced poor eBeam software performance when connecting eBeam Edge systems via internal Bluetooth on Intel based Macs. In the past, end users with Macs have not needed to use the BT dongle that comes in the box. However, performance issues can be eliminated if the external Bluetooth dongle supplied with the Edge unit is plugged in and configured to replace internal Bluetooth.

 Description:

eBeam Bluetooth configuration for Mac 10.5.x

  1. Turn off your system’s built in Bluetooth by going to System Preferences > Bluetooth and unchecking the On box.
  2. If you have an iMac, Mac Mini or Mac Pro system, you will need to plug in a USB mouse before proceeding to the next step to ensure you have mouse control until Bluetooth devices are connected. For MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air systems continue to the next step.
  3. Plug in the eBeam Bluetooth dongle.
  4. To connect an eBeam device, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth and click on the plus button to add a device.
  5. Select eBeam device from the list of Bluetooth devices.
  6. When prompted enter the paring code 1234.
  7. A dialog will be shown if the pairing is successful.
  8. To connect a wireless keyboard or mouse through the eBeam Bluetooth dongle, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth and click on the + button to add a device. After adding a wireless mouse you no longer need to use a USB mouse.
